Planning a Wedding - Where to Begin?
Ready to plunge into your wedding plans?
Before you launch into the detail, sit back, relax and take a deep breath. What kind of wedding do you really want?

Ceremony - Civil or Religious
What kind of ceremony do you want? Do you both share religious beliefs and feel strongly that you want a church ceremony? Many people these days are from differing religions however, and so would prefer a civil ceremony. With over 3,000 premises licensed to hold civil ceremonies in England and Wales, there’s certainly no shortage of choice!

Location - City or Country
A city, or country location will dictate the style of your wedding, so you’re advised to settle on a location early. Consider also where the majority of your friends and family are coming from, and whether they will need to pay for expensive overnight accommodation.

Season - Summer / Winter / Spring / Autumn
Every season is beautiful in its own way, and has its share of pros and cons. The British weather is notoriously unreliable, but a marquee wedding in picturesque surroundings, given a balmy summer evening, is hard to beat. Or will you opt for the cosiness of a candlelit winter reception, or a fresh spring day?

Theme - Colour and style / Indoor or Outdoor
The theme is often influenced by the season in which the wedding takes place, but there’s still room for choice in terms of colour. Modern marquees are perfectly able to accommodate receptions in winter as with any other season, and provide a superb ‘blank canvas’ to dress, and theme as you will. All you need is imagination.

Guest Numbers
The number of people on your guest list will largely be dictated by your wedding budget, although you may prefer to have a cocktail and canapé reception with more people, or a three course silver service meal for less. As a general rule, the guest list should be split equally between bride and groom, though the person footing the bill will normally have the last say. No event can be successful without organisation, and that involves plenty of lists! It’s important that your tasks are accomplished within a set time frame, and spread throughout the time available to avoid moments of panic.
